Bench, the Bar,
and the Media, three groups which are suspicious and, often, uninformed
about each other. The first-ever joint educational program, held
on
November 7, 1998, brought together reporters and editors, judges and
attorneys in a forum intended to open the lines of communication,
provide greater insight into the job each group does and, hopefully,
lead to better reporting of the state's legal system. All
attendees
received a copy of the state's first Journalist's Guide to
Maryland's Legal System. It was distributed to newsrooms and
judges across the state following the conference. An updated
version of theGuide is posted below.
